Galcayo, Northern Somalia – May 2010
Ayan A. from Galcayo. Ayan is 10 years old and has had cataract with navigation vision only since birth. She is coming with her mother from “Benberiad Ley” 90 km away from Galcayo. The journey took her 1 full day by car and around 10 USD. Ayan’s mother heard on the radio that MSF was organzing the eye camp and felt excited for her child. Ayan’s mother whom has 8 children had to bring constant attention to Ayan though the child was careless about her blindness. Ayan whom has never been to school due to her blindness will now by capable of learning how to write and read.
