James,
Let the rain not bring down your spirit. I am out in your beautiful home province for the summer, soaking up the scenery and giving my debt some relief. Other forms of relief will soon be my goal, thanks in part to people like you.
It snowed here last night, if only I post a snowball.

How can we send you "Care Packages" ? I donate to your cause but I'm sure you'd love to have something you can eat or read from home. Please tell me what you'd MOST like in the Care Package.

With love and prayers for EVERYTHING you do,
Dearest James,
Your number I lost, but your blog I found. Suddenly, the pile of ICU texts, together weighing more than me, and the job of knowing them in preparation for the Board exams seems so miniscule. James...your work, your words are real and felt. Keep it up - it does have a ripple effect. Greg B

You are so right about the time difference. I felt it while living in Juliaca--or actually a "village" in the "suburbs" (those terms are inappropriately appropriate). Time just seemed to yawn on, especially during the afternoon. I got used to it after a while. But the transition...
I'm continuing to enjoy your writing. Prayers and good thoughts to you.
Just a note from Vancouver to say I'm very moved by your daily entries. A poet inside a doctor...is a wonderful surprise.
You need to be healthy to do what you do,
Keep well,
The weary one, orphan
of the masses, the self,
the crushed one, the one made of concrete,
the one without a country in crowded restaurants,
he who wanted to go far away, always farther away,
didn't know what to do there, whether he wanted
or didn't want to leave or remain on the island,
the hesitant one, the hybrid, entangled in himself,
had no place here: the straight-angled stone,
the infinite look of the granite prism,
the circular solitude all banished him:
he went somewhere else with his sorrows,
he returned to the agony of his native land,
to his indecisions, of winter and summer.
